San Francisco 49ers Rumors: Ray McDonald to be Suspended More Than Six Games; 49ers Scrambling for Defensive Players? [VIDEO]

In light of the NFL’s new hard stance on domestic violence, San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald was arrested early Sunday and charged.

The 29-year-old McDonald was arrested around 2:48 a.m. PT and was released on bail around noon for alleged domestic violence against a pregnant woman. Reporters pursued McDonald soon after he was released from prison and said that he is a good person.

"I can't say too much, not right now, but the truth will come out. Everybody knows the kind of person that I am," McDonald said. "I'm a good-hearted person.”

This alleged case of domestic violence comes only days after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement that such allegations will be treated much more serious in the future. The official announcement revealed that first time offenders will receive no less than a six game suspension while second time offenders receive a life-time ban.

McDonald will likely be looking at more than a six game suspension seeing how Goodell made it a point to say that pregnant victims would warrant a larger suspension. The 49ers had released a statement saying they do not accept such behavior and they will let the process run it’s course.

McDonald is not expected to be released but he is the latest 49er that will be missing for a significant amount of the season. McDonald joins Aldon Smith (nine game suspension) and NaVorro Bowman (ACL injury) as key defensive play makers that will miss time for San Francisco this season.

The 49ers reached an agreement with All-Pro guard Alex Boone to end the NFL’s lone holdout.
