Houston Rockets Rumors: Rajon Rondo Rumors Dead? Rockets Interested in Acquiring Ramon Sessions from Bucks [VIDEO]

The Houston Rockets might be putting any pursuit of Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo on hold as they are actively pursuing another point guard.

According to Basketball Insiders' Alex Kennedy, the Rockets are gauging the Milwaukee Bucks' interest in a sign-and-trade deal for free agent Ramon Sessions.

Sessions would serve the role that Jeremy Lin left behind with the Rockets when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers by backing up starter Patrick Beverley. The current reserve point guards on the Rockets’ roster include Ish Smith, rookie Nick Johnson, and D-League All-Star Isaiah Canaan.

At least for the moment, the Rockets are taking a back seat to any potential trade for Rajon Rondo and their sudden interest in Sessions could be a reaction to Rondo’s recent interest in testing free agency in summer 2015.

The Rockets are attempting to gain a solid reserve in Sessions while trading away players on their roster as they currently have 18 players, three more than the 15 they are allowed to have by season’s start.

The Bucks acquired Sessions, as well as Jeff Adrien, from the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets last February for guards Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour. Sessions averaged 12.3 points and 4.1 assists per game on 42.9 percent shooting last season for the Bucks.
