Mayura Dissanayake MMA: 'Gas Station Mixed Martial Artist" Scores 18-Second Knockout [Video]

Mayura Dissanayake, who shot to fame last month after fending off two men who were attempting to rob his co-worker, showed he has some real mixed martial arts skills on Saturday with an 18-second win in an amateur MMA event.

Dissanayake, a Houston gas station attendant nicknamed "The Karate Clerk," made quick work of Jamie Garcia in the co-main event of Saverese Promotion's hybrid MMA and muay Thai card in Houston. He landed some hard leg kicks before dropping Garcia with a counter lefthand and pounced on him for some follow-up punches before the referee stepped in.

After video of Dissanayake's fight against the would-be robbers went viral, he became a bit of a local celebrity. According to MMAJunkie, he had six years of mixed martial arts training prior to the incident.

According to TMZ, Dissanayake still works at the gas station but has been in talks to begin training with Anderson Silva's Blackhouse MMA team in California.

Videos of Dissanayake's win on Saturday and the gas station incident can be viewed below.
