Live stream the game by clicking this link; Michael Pineda (2-2, 2.05 ERA) will pitch for the Yankees against James Shields (12-6, 3.28 ERA). Yankees fans can hear the game on 101.9 WFAN FM while Royals fans may do the same on KCSP 610.

The Yankees are embarking on a seven-game road trip on a high note, having taken the final game of their series with the Houston Astros and then sweeping the Chicago White Sox.

"We're chasing teams and we need to win. ... we need to go and have a good road trip," manager Joe Girardi said. "We've always talked about where momentum starts. It starts with your starting pitcher the next day. But it's a good feeling going on the road when you're going on a strange trip where you're going to a city to play one day."

The Yanks sit 3.5 games behind the Mariners for the second wild card spot, and six games back of the Orioles for the AL East lead.

The Royals are fighting to keep their lead over the heavily favored Detroit Tigers in the AL Central, and manager Ned Yost said being in front has energized the club. "Everybody's full of life. We're in a pennant race, man," Yost said. "Keep winning series, and we're going to be OK."

Slugger Billy Butler commented on their lead being cut to two games yesterday.

"We're up by two. We had a chance to keep it at three," Butler said. "Three definitely sounds a lot better than two. Two's too close, three feels all right. I'm not satisfied with three, I want four. That's just the way it is."
