Ryan Mallett Trade Talks Heat Up; Won't Play Thursday

According to Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports, Sanchez would rather stay in Philadelphia and continue his fresh start than be traded to the Rams and compete for the starting job.

“But if Sanchez has anything to say about it, there's "no chance" he'd abandon his fresh start as a backup under coach Chip Kelly with the Philadelphia Eagles for a shot to rejoin Schottenheimer and play in St. Louis, a person with knowledge of Sanchez's thinking told USA TODAY Sports on Sunday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because any trade talks were to remain private.”

Sanchez has been great this preseason and looks rejuvenated in Chip Kelly’s offense. Sanchez is projected to be the backup behind Nick Foles and is slated ahead of second-year player Matt Barkley.

Rams Seek Quarterback Options After Bradford's Torn ACL

Sanchez could see some time at starting quarterback this season as in 17 of the last 23 seasons, the starting quarterback for the Eagles has missed at least two games for various reasons. Sanchez has appeared in three preseason games and has put together 25-of-31 passing (80.6%) for 281 yards with two touchdowns, an interception and a 112.5 passer rating.

The Rams, on the other hand, continue their search around the league for quarterback depth. Former Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets quarterback David Garrard put his hat into the ring via Twitter early Monday, but it is unknown if the two sides have had any formal talks.
