St. Louis Rams Rumors: Sam Bradford Era is Over in St. Louis; Rams to Start Shaun Hill, Seek Other Quarterback Options [VIDEO]

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is on the shelf for the 2014 season with his second torn ACL. The Rams are rumored to be in the market for a new quarterback, but what are their realistic options with two weeks before the season’s start?

Patriots, Texans Revisit Ryan Mallett Trade

Rams coach Jeff Fisher spoke about Bradford’s status and the team's stance going forward and they seem content with Shaun Hill at the moment. Hill will be the Rams’ starting quarterback for Week 1 while Austin Davis and Garrett Gilbert serve as the backup.

"This team is going to rally around Shaun, and this team is going to go play," Fisher said. "We have all the confidence in the world in Shaun."

"It makes no sense to jump and react right now and try to fill the hole, whatever it costs," he said. "We're going to take our time and evaluate this. There's going to be some quarterbacks that are getting released, and there may or may not be some quarterbacks that have trade value. We just don't know. It's way too soon.”

Reports have surfaced that the Rams are looking into any and all options to obtain another quarterback for the team. Names like Philadelphia Eagles backup signal caller Mark Sanchez and New England Patriots second-string quarterback  Ryan Mallett have been thrown around, but neither is a likely option for St. Louis.

The Patriots are reportedly interested in holding on to Mallett until they see that rookie Jimmy Garoppolo can handle backup duties and the Rams chose Hill over Sanchez this past free agency.

Bradford is set to make $14 million this season and $65.1 million for his career by the end of the season. Bradford was the Rams’ first overall selection in 2010 and his contract was the last under the NFL’s old collective bargaining agreement. This deal is seen by many as the worst active contract in the NFL.
