War Machine Arrested: Former Porn Star Brooke Haven Details Past Violent Outbursts From MMA Fighter [Video]

War Machine, the former mixed martial artist accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend and porn star Christy Mack, has been in trouble with the law before, and stories continue to emerge detailing his violent past.

This isn't the first time War Machine, born Jonathan Koppenhaver has been involved in a domestic dispute with a girlfriend. Former porn star Brooke Haven detailed an incident at her birthday party in 2009 where Koppenhaver allegedly became violent, slapping his then-girlfriend and sending several people who leaped to her defense to the hospital.

"We were all at my birthday party and he was there with a girlfriend of his," Haven told The Daily Beast. "He actually showed up to my birthday party early and was blowing up balloons and everything was fine, and the next thing I know he was doing some drugs. His girlfriend was talking to a friend of mine and War Machine walked up and slapped her. And then it all escalated from there."

Haven said that after her experience with Koppenhaver, she wasn't surprised when she heard about his alleged assault on Mack.

"I knew it was going to happen," she said. "It's not the first time that he's beaten her up and she's stayed. She chose to stay. It's never right for any man to lay a hand on a woman, but I thought it was going to happen and it did happen."

Koppenhaver, appeared before a California court Tuesday and said he won't contest his return to custody in Nevada. He waived extradition in Ventura County Superior Court following his arrest Friday at an extended-stay hotel in Simi Valley, Ventura County sheriff's Capt. Don Aguilar said.

Koppenhaver was returned to the Ventura County jail to await transfer to Las Vegas on an unspecified date. He allegedly beat Mack, born Christine Mackinday, and Corey Thomas so brutally that both of them suffered multiple injuries. Mack reportedly told police that she feared for her life.

Prosecutors in Las Vegas filed multiple felony battery, assault and coercion charges that could get Koppenhaver a total of more than 25 years in prison if he is convicted. He also faces a misdemeanor lewdness count involving the groping of Mack.
