Jacksonville Jaguars Rumors: Blake Bortles Creating Quarterback Controversy? No. 3 Pick to Play With Starters Next Week [VIDEO]

Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles has been sharp in his limited preseason action and his hard work has paid off as coach Gus Bradley announced Bortles will play with the first team offense against the Detroit Lions.

Manziel Benched After Arriving Late to Meeting?

Bortles turned some heads with his play against the Chicago Bears and apparently has earned himself a legitimate look in the team's third preseason game. Bortles' final stat line was 11 for 17 and 160 yards, but he looked much more impressive than the numbers show. The No. 3 overall pick showed poise in the pocket and fired strikes into tight spaces with ease.

The Jaguars have maintained that Bortles will not see any action in 2014 and will wit behind veteran Chad Henne as he gets a grasp for the NFL. Bradley spoke about the quarterback position and said the team feels comfortable going forward with Henne.

The NFL to Return to Los Angeles in 2016?

"We really felt comfortable with [Henne] coming back with another year in the system," head coach Gus Bradley said in May. "I think it gave us flexibility. When Blake was there available for us [at the No. 3 pick], we really wanted to capture that opportunity. And we do feel good about where Blake's at, but we feel like this time that he has under Chad, a year to develop, will be really good in the end result.”

Bortles is making a case to start Week 1 and the Jaguars have to approach the situation with caution or risk having another Blaine Gabbert incident.
