Gennady Golovkin Next Fight: Andre Ward Rep Hints 'GGG' May Be Ducking Ward [VIDEO]

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin is returning to the ring this fall after defeating Daniel Geale, billed as the toughest opponent of his career, on Saturday in quick fashion via third round TKO. Golovkin owns the highest knockout rate (90 percent) among all champions in boxing, and has had difficulty lining up big name opponents.

That seems to be the case for his upcoming fight-Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto haven't expressed interest in facing him at this time, and the Geale fight happened because contract talks broke down with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Ward camp thinks Abel Sanchez really wants to avoid S.O.G. fight

WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward has also come up, and according to one of his attorneys, Josh Dubin, he's willing to step in the ring with Golovkin.

Ward may have been spurred by comments made by Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez that insinuated Ward thinks too highly of his drawing power.

"If a fight with Gennady could be discussed, the fact is that Andre is on an island with the belief that he can demand terms," said Sanchez. "That makes it un-makeable and un-workable when he wants the major portion of the money," Sanchez said.

Dubin spoke with RingTV and refuted Sanchez's remarks.

"All you have to do is look at the ratings that these two men draw. Let's start with the ratings. Andre Ward, coming off a major shoulder injury and layoff of over a year did a 1.3 million rating on HBO," Dubin said.

Golovkin returning in October or November

"Gennady Golovkin just fought was was supposed to be the biggest fight of his career in the biggest room in Madison Square Garden with the most fans there, and that was his big night...You know what he did? A whole lot of nothing. He did half the ratings that Andre Ward did."

A frequent storyline regarding Golovkin is that big names duck him because they fear his power. Golovkin's stopped 17 straight opponents, and since December 2011 no fighter has gotten past the eighth round against him.

Ward, though, is considered the consensus No. 2 fighter in the world behind Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Dubin believes Golovkin is currently doing the ducking.

"A couple of weeks ago, they put to rest whether or not they would move up or down to fight. Andre Ward will fight anyone. The reality is that I don't think that these guys really want to fight him," Dubin said.

"There's nobody even two weight classes above or two weight classes below that could even win a round against Andre at this point, let alone beat him, and they know that."
