Manchester United Transfer News: Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Rejects Southampton Transfer Bid

With his compatriot Raul Jimenez imminently joining Atletico Madrid, it isn't likely Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez will be securing a move to the Spanish capital. The same can be said for Southampton, with the Daily Mirror reporting (via Goal Transfer Talk) that Hernandez has rejected an opportunity to join Ronald Koeman's side.

With just over two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, the future of the Mexican international remains in limbo.

On Tuesday, Mexico national team head coach Miguel Herrera urged his falling star to finally secure an exit from Old Trafford. He didn't listen.

"I think [Chicharito] needs to leave," Herrera said in an exclusive interview with ESPN. "I think [Juventus] would be a good option for him. When a coach doesn't want you—when you have your best experience, your best moment with them, and now the coach that wanted you is no longer there—it's time to move."

"I think there are a lot of opportunities," he added. "They are not bad opportunities. If he goes to Juventus, that would be an extraordinary team. Without a doubt, it would be a nice change for him. Hopefully he'll see more minutes."

Southampton are no Juventus, but they are an opportunity for Hernandez to see more minutes than he had with Manchester United last season. The 26-year-old made made 24 appearances for the club in 2013-14, but only six served as starts. The arrival of newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal signifies he would see even fewer should he stubbornly remain with the Mighty Reds.

If no other clubs join the fray, Southampton is a suitable option.
