Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones suffered a leg injury while training and has withdrawn from UFC 178, promotion officials announced Tuesday.
Jones was slated to defend his title Sept. 27 against Daniel Cormier in a highly anticipated fight. The two will now meet Jan. 3 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Lorenzo Fertitta assured Daniel Cormier that Jon Jones' next fight will remain his, not Alexander Gustafsson's.

With Jones-Cormier on hold, flyweight champion Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson will put his belt on the against Chris Cariaso in the UFC 178 main event at MGM Grand.
Johnson-Cariaso was originally slated to be the card's co-feature bout.
