No stranger to ice, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is the latest person to take part in the ice bucket challenge that has been sweeping the nation lately to raise awareness for ALS.

The ice bucket challenge has been spreading like wild fire thanks to social media and is a campaign that raises awareness for ALS by having those who have been challenged by a friend, colleague or family member either dump a bucket of ice water on their heads or donate $100 to fund ALS research.

Once people are challenged, they either donate the money or post a video of themselves dumping ice water on themselves to raise awareness for the disease, and then they can go on and challenge whoever they want.

Crosby posted a video of himself taking the challenge after teammate Craig Adams challenged him.

"Hi I'm Sidney Crosby and I accept Craig Adams' ice bucket challenge in support of all those with ALS, especially [Boston College baseball player] Pete Frates ," Crosby said in the video.

Before completing the act, Crosby had a challenge for a few of his teammates.

"I challenge Pascal Dupuis, Marc-Andre Fleury and Kris Letang," Crosby said before prepping two large blue buckets full of ice water and dumping one of them on his head.

A video has also surfaced of Fleury taking the challenge in a banana suit while challenging some more of his teammates.

After an offseason overhaul in the front office that has seen Pittsburgh hire Mike Johnston as head coach and Jim Rutherford as the new general manager, the Penguins will look to win the Metropolitan Division for the second straight season after falling in the Eastern Conference semifinals to the New York Rangers in 2013-14.

The Pens season kicks off on Oct. 9 when they host the Anaheim Ducks at the Consol Energy Center.
