San Francisco 49ers Rumors: How Long Will Aldon Smith Be Suspended? [VIDEO]

Much like the Cleveland Browns and Josh Gordon, the San Francisco 49ers and Aldon Smith are preparing for a suspension that will keep the Pro Bowler out for six to eight games.

Josh Gordon, Browns Expecting 'At Least' Eight-Game Suspension

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers and Smith are expecting the outside linebacker to be suspended for close to half the season considering how often he violates the NFL’s person conduct policy.

Smith is facing numerous chargers from the past few years including pleading no contest to weapons charges and DUI charges and another DUI case with a guilty plea to reckless driving in 2012. Smith also faced an allegation that he made a false report of a bomb threat in the security line at LAX, but reports are that no criminal charges will be brought up.

Smith and Gordon both face potential eight to 16 game bans for their actions off the field. The NFL's handling of off-field indiscretions though have been questioned by many in the wake of the two-game suspension handed down to Ray Rice after a domestic violence incident.
