Liverpool Transfer News: Brendan Rodgers Rejected By AS Monaco For Radamel Falcao, Told Striker Will Transfer To Real Madrid?

Brendan Rodgers' search for a premier No. 9 marches on.

Ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United in the 2014 International Champions Cup, Rodgers categorically denied the pursuit of another front man—one he should reconsider. "I can categorically tell you that he [Mario Balotelli] will not be at Liverpool," he said (via the Daily Mail). I was asked the question about Balotelli and spoke about what a talent he is and excellent player he is."

"He is a wonderful player," he added. "But an AC Milan player. I just gave my opinion of him, but doesn't mean I will be signing him."

After the club's latest failed attempt, options are dwindling and are pointing in the direction of Milan's controversial goalscorer. After all, if any club is protective of their own troubled playmakers it's Liverpool FC.

Last season in Serie A, Balotelli led Milan in goals scored with 14, being the only member of the squad to reach double digits. His former teammate, Kaka, finished a distant second with seven. His attacking prowess would be a welcomed addition to side desperate to capture its first Premier League title in well-over two decades.

But whether it's Balotelli or not, 24 days remain for Liverpool to find a solution for their striker conundrum.
