It has been reported that TNA is in negotiations with Spike TV over the future of Impact Wrestling amid rumors that the network will drop it off the schedule this fall, and it has since been reported that TNA officials held a meeting with the talent to address the speculation.
Ric Flair Slated To Appear On RAW, Update On His WWE Status
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that TNA officials met with the talent of the roster on Wednesday at the New York City tapings to update them on the situation with Spike TV and told them that the two sides are still in negotiations.
It is uncertain if Spike TV will keep TNA after TMZ reported that the network was leaning toward dropping Impact Wrestling in October when the current television deal expires. There have been multiple reasons for Spike wanting to drop the program, including the lack of cost efficiency the show has for the network, but negotiations could change this.
Tag Title Match Likely Added To SummerSlam Card
At the meeting, officials reportedly thanked the talents for all of their hard work during a time when negative news about the future of the company's flagship show were spinning and the talent left the meeting feeling upbeat.
TNA president Dixie Carter was backstage for the television tapings this week in New York City, but did not appear. It has been noted that the attendance for TNA's New York City tapings has been very low and security had to move audience members up to better seats for the camera while tickets were being given away outside the venue.
Despite the lack of attendance, TNA has scheduled more Impact tapings in New York City at the Manhattan Center on Sept. 18 and 25.
Thursday night's episode of Impact Wrestling will feature Dixie Carter going through a table, Abyss vs. Bram in a Monster's Ball match, Team 3D, Tommy Dreamer and a mystery partner vs. Team Dixie in a Hardcore War, Samoa Joe vs. Sanada vs. Low Ki to in a Triple Threat Match to crown a new X Division Champion and more.
While the future of TNA on Spike TV is still up in the air, there was said to be a positive mood at Wednesday's meeting.
