Tonight at 8:10 p.m. ET, the Texas Rangers (43-69) and Chicago White Sox (55-58) play the middle contest of a three-game set live from U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. Texas continues a nine-game road trip it is 0-4 on thus far while Chicago continues a six-game homestand it is 2-2 on entering play. The White Sox took the series opener from the Rangers 5-3 on Monday and will look to hand them their fifth straight loss.
The Rangers enter Tuesday with the worst record in baseball and are in last place in the American League West, 25.5 games behind the first place Oakland Athletics while the White Sox are in fourth place in the AL Central, eight games behind the division-leading Detroit Tigers.
Colby Lewis (7-8, 5.98 ERA) toes the rubber for Texas while Chicago counters with John Danks, who is 9-6 with a 4.50 ERA.
While his ERA is nearing six, Lewis is 1-2 with a 3.44 ERA since the All-Star break and is confident in his stuff heading into tonight's game.
"I feel like my location is the key," Lewis said via MLB.com. "I have been able to keep the ball down on both sides of the plate. I have been getting stronger as the game goes along and as the year goes along."
Danks, who is signed for the next two years, was happy that the non-waiver deadline came and went without him being dealt amid many rumors that the White Sox were shopping him.
"This is where I'm comfortable," Danks told MLB.com. "I've gotten to know a lot of lifelong friends here, and I'm happy to be here."
Danks will try to shut down a Texas lineup that is led by third baseman Adrian Beltre, who ranks fourth in the AL with a .323 batting average to go along with a team-best 15 homers and 59 RBI. Outfielder Alex Rios leads the AL with eight triples while second baseman Elvis Andrus enters the game riding an 11-game hitting streak.
Chicago counters with a lineup that is flanked by first baseman Jose Abreu, who leads the entire MLB with 31 homers, 86 RBI and a .628 slugging percentage. Abreu also leads the AL with a .911 OPS and is second in the league with 241 total bases while ranking third on the team with a .307 batting average.
