Sting WWE Rumors: Steve Borden Comments On Being Included In WWE 2K15 SummerSlam Panel [VIDEO]

It was revealed this week that Steve "Sting" Borden will be a part of the WWE 2K15 roster reveal panel during SummerSlam weekend and the former WCW and TNA icon commented on being in Los Angeles for the event.

Sting will appear alongside host "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, WWE World Heavyweight John Cena and Superstars Roman Reigns, Cesaro and Sheamus on the panel, which is designed to reveal the playable characters in WWE 2K15, which is due out in October.

It was revealed that Sting will be a part of the game for those who pre-order it as either the "black and white" or "surfer" versions of his character. Sting took to Twitter to comment on joining the panel.

Updated Card For WWE SummerSlam

The panel will take place sometime before the big SummerSlam event goes live on Sunday night, Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in L.A. The event is headlined by a Cena vs. Brock Lesnar match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Lesnar, of course, ended The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX and simultaneously injured the dead man. It was rumored that Sting would face 'Taker at WrestleMania, but the WWE dragged its feet in signing him and opted to have Lesnar face 'Taker and subsequently end The Streak.

Sting has signed a contract with 2K Sports to appear in the game and Mattel to make his action figure while he doesn't have an official talent contract with the WWE itself. The WWE is selling his merchandise because it owns the rights to do so after buying out WCW in 2001, not because a deal is in place.

It has been reported that Sting has taken his time in signing on with the WWE despite having a physical contract in his possession, though its seemingly a matter of time before he officially joins the company since he has spoken about being on good terms with the WWE, joining the WWE family and his desire to have one more match frequently over the past few weeks since he was revealed as part of the game.

There are rumors that Sting may have his final match -- and first with the WWE -- at WrestleMania 31 next March in the Bay Area due to his California ties, but it remains to be seen.

Sting has been adamant that he wants to face The Undertaker, but after losing The Streak and getting injured the career of 'Taker remains up in the air and he has reportedly told close friends that he is doubtful to wrestle at next year's Show of Shows.

Still, a match for Sting is likely regardless of his opponent and there have been rumors that it may also come with a Hall of Fame induction.

Sting has been the one WCW main event talent that has eluded signing with the WWE and Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon over the years, but things are closer than ever.

While it's not a done deal by any stretch, Sting is reportedly going to meet with McMahon during SummerSlam weekend and it is likely that the former WCW Champion will finally ink a talent contract with the WWE.
