Dalton gets a major upgrade in pay as he was scheduled to make only $1.7 million in the last year of his rookie contract. Dalton has led the Bengals to three straight playoff appearances and 30 regular season wins, but has fallen short in the playoffs with an 0-3 record.

Dalton is currently No. 130 overall in fantasy football rankings and is being drafted in the 11th round of most standard league drafts. Dalton, surprisingly, finished the 2013 season as the fifth ranked quarterback in all of fantasy and gets a boost from having playmakers such as A.J. Green and Gio Bernard on his side.

Dalton’s new deal as well as the boost of confidence he is receiving from his coaching staff could spark a breakout season for the veteran. Dalton could be a late round steal in a backup role, but he's a must-start in two-quarterback leagues.
