The Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre have come together on a joint announcement that the former Packer quarterback will be joining the franchise's Hall of Fame in 2015.
Favre Afraid of Being Booed in Packer Return
The Packer Hall of Fame is independently run and doesn't rely on the team to make decisions of this nature. The ceremonies are strictly during the month of July, but the museum is currently closed for construction and will not re-open until April 2015. Soon after the re-opening Favre will be immortalized and, during the 2015 season, his No. 4 will be retired by the team.
"It was a tremendous honor to play 16 years for the Green Bay Packers. Now to have my name placed among others such as Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Taylor, Lambeau, Nitschke, Lombardi, Davis, White and Hutson is a special honor that I share with all of my teammates and coaches, and that would not have been possible but for the foresight of Ron Wolf, the greatest GM in the history of the NFL," Favre said in a statement.
The announcement is expected around 1:30 p.m. local time at Lambeau Field and Favre is expected to speak via telephone. It isn't known when the Packers plan to retire Favre’s No. 4, but it is expected to be sometime during the 2015 season.

Favre played for the Packers from 1992-2008 and is seen as one of the franchise's best players and one of the best players in NFL history. Favre holds many of the NFL’s career passing records including touchdown passes (508), passing yards (71,838), games started (298) and interceptions (336).
