Minnesota Vikings Rumors: Teddy Bridgewater 'Closing Gap' on Matt Cassel; Bridgewater Favorite to Start Week 1? [VIDEO]

NFL training camp is just kicking off, but a rookie quarterback is making his case to be the Week 1 starter already. Minnesota’s Teddy Bridgewater is turning heads at Viking camp and is making his claim for the starting job sooner rather than later.

NFL Not Buying Gordon's Defense

NFL.com’s Albert Beer reported from Vikings camp and said that Bridgewater was given first team reps for the first time and is ‘closing the gap’ on Matt Cassel.

The Vikings haven’t changed their plan publicly all offseason and have made it clear they do not plan to play Bridgewater in 2014. Minnesota had said, even before drafting Bridgewater at No. 32 overall, that their 2014 plans do not include their rookie quarterback. Of course, this could all change if the Vikings believe the Louisville product can produce at a high level and gives the team the best chance to win, but that point is a long way off.

Cleveland 'Alarmed' By Johnny Football's Antics

Bridgewater slipped to No. 32 in May’s NFL draft due to a poor showing at the NFL combine and his individual workouts with teams. Bridgewater is seen as the prototypical quarterback for Minnesota’s new offensive coordinator Norv Turner’s system and the organization has had nothing but grey things to say since drafting Teddy.
