Coming out of Tuesday's SmackDown tapings, the card for SummerSlam has continued to shape up as a challenge was put forth, a new match was added and a stipulation was determined for another bout.
WWE SmackDown Spoilers For Friday
Randy Orton came out to cut a promo on SmackDown and challenged Roman Reigns to a match at the biggest show of the summer on Aug. 17 live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It has long been rumored that the two would square off at SummerSlam and with Orton laying down the challenge it is all but certain to go down.
It was rumored that Reigns would face Triple H at SummerSlam, but now it looks as though the WWE is saving that match for Night of Champions on Sept. 21 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
CM Punk Makes Appearance On MMA Hour
It was a busy night on SmackDown as another match was added to the card pitting Jack Swagger against Rusev. Swagger won his match against Cesaro to open up the show and was interrupted by Rusev and Lana, and he and his manager Zeb Colter cut a back-and-forth promo with the Russian pair. At the end of it, a match was made for the second biggest event of the year.
There have been rumors that the Swagger vs. Rusev bout -- which will be their second consecutive pay-per-view clash -- may be a flag match, but there is no word on whether or not that was established on SmackDown.
There was also a stipulation added to the Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt match as Jericho defeated Erick Rowan to close the show with the rule being that if Jericho defeated Rowan, he would be banned from ringside for his match with Wyatt at SummerSlam.
There is a chance that Jericho will meet Luke Harper before the show and possibly have the same stipulation added to the match.
The SummerSlam card will be headlined by a WWE World Heavyweight Championship contest pitting champion John Cena against challenger Brock Lesnar.
Other rumored matches for the show include "Mr. Money in the Bank" Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose, The Miz defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Bo Dallas and Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat Match, The Usos defending their Tag Team Championships in a Fatal 4 Way match against three other teams and AJ Lee defending the Divas Championship against Paige.
SummerSlam takes place live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Aug. 17 and it looks as though it will be a great show with a lot of solid matches planned for the card.
