San Francisco rumors: Vernon Davis Reports to 49ers Training Camp; Alex Boone Committed to Hold Out [VIDEO]

San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis has reported to 49ers camp after threatening to hold out as he seeks a new contract with the team.

Davis hadn't attended any of the 49ers offseason workouts and even missed the teams mandatory minicamp last month. The 49ers were reluctant to give the 30-year-old tight end a new longterm contract due to the potential of his inevitable decline.

The report comes in after 49ers safety C.J. Spillman posted an Instagram video of his teammates celebrating Davis' return.

The 49ers can cross one of their offseason issues off with Davis’ return, but they are still expected to be without guard Alex Boone. Boone, 27, is expected to be committed to his holdout for the long haul and has vowed to stay away from the team until a new deal is reached.

Boone is the 43rd highest paid guard in the NFL, but is widely considered the best in the business at the position since becoming the starter in 2012. The 49ers are looking to make their third consecutive NFC Championship game and earn their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
