RGIII Defends Griner After Baylor Upset

Washington Redskins quarterback and Baylor alum Robert Griffin III defended Lady Bears star Brittney Griner on Twitter after her top-seeded Women's basketball team was upset by No. 5 Louisville in the NCAA tournament on Sunday. Griffin criticized the style of play from Louisville while defending Griner, who went went 4-of-10 from the field in the loss and scored just 14 points -- a far cry from her 33 point average during the first two games of the tournament.

"Them girls were LITERALLY throwing elbows, slaps &" and that "for every (3-pointer) they made, they threw 6 elbows, 5 straight lefts, 4 right hooks & 3 roundhouse kicks, 2 jumping knees, & 1 superman punch at B. Griner's abdominals. Aiming for her face but couldn't reach &," Griffin tweeted. "There's a difference in being physical and fighting," he added.

One of the most notable players in school history, Griffin attended last year's Final Four in Denver, where Baylor and Griner won the national title. Earlier that year, Griffin player in Baylor history to win the Heisman Trophy.
