Tonight at 7:08 p.m. ET, the Tampa Bay Rays (38-50) and Detroit Tigers (48-34) take the field at Comerica Park in Detroit for some Fourth of July action. The game can be live streamed for free here. The Rays continue an 11-game road trip they are 6-2 on thus far while Detroit continues a nine-game homestand it is 4-0 on and looks for its sixth straight win.
Detroit took the opening game of this four-game set from Tampa Bay by a score of 8-1.
The Rays enter play in last place in the American League East while the Tigers come into the action in first place in the AL Central.
Alex Cobb (3-6, 4.20 ERA) takes the mound for Tampa Bay while Detroit counters with Drew Smyly, who is 4-7 with a 3.75 ERA).
Cobb enjoys playing in Comerica Park because it is a pitcher's park.
"This place is really fun to pitch in just because it's such a big park," Cobb said via MLB.com. "It is a good mound, too."
Smyly had been battling an upper respiratory infection, but seems to be better now.
"He said he's feeling a lot better," Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said via MLB.com. "He's still got a little bit of a raspy voice, so I don't think it's completely gone, but he said he was feeling OK."
Detroit designated-hitter Victor Martinez ranks third in the AL with a .327 batting average and ourth with 21 homers. Martinez also ranks second in OPS (.989), third in slugging percentage (.600) and fourth in on-base percentage (.389) and total bases (180).
Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is first in the AL with 32 doubles, tied for third with 67 RBI, and fifth with a .316 batting average. Second baseman ian Kinsler ranks second in the AL in runs scored (59), third in doubles (25) and fourth in hits (105).
Tampa Bay first baseman James Loney leads the team in batting average (.280) and RBI (43) while third baseman Evan Longoria leads the team in homers (10).
