Seahawks' Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson a Mediocre Quarterback? [VIDEO]

In his two seasons in the NFL, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson already has a Super Bowl ring. What he doesn't have yet is an overabundance of respect.

Seattle Seahawks press release about Russell Wilson divorce raises suspicions

NFL.com contributor Charley Casserly, a former general manager for the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans, listed 13 quarterbacks he'd rather have than Wilson under center.

"I do not consider Russell Wilson a Top-10 quarterback, let alone one who belongs in the top five," Casserly wrote on NFL.com. "The Seahawks win because they have one of the NFL's best defenses and an outstanding running back in Marshawn Lynch. Wilson -- who I think is a good, but not elite, passer -- operates in an offense that takes a lot of pressure off him, meaning the Seahawks don't have to rely upon his arm to win games.

"When evaluating players you always ask yourself how would that player perform with another team that is better than his? For example, if you put Andrew Luck in Seattle would his numbers improve? I don't have any doubt they would. In no particular order, I would rank these AFC signal-callers ahead of Wilson: Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, Tom Brady and, possibly, Joe Flacco. And the NFC quarterbacks I would rank ahead of him: Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Eli Manning (despite his poor 2013 season), Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Tony Romo and Nick Foles."

Russell Wilson the third highest-paid quarterback on his own team

Wilson should be used to such comments; his 5-foot-11, 203-pound stature has made him a poster child for criticism in terms of lacking classic quarterback skills.

All he has done in two seasons in Seattle is compile a 24-8 regular-season record and a 4-1 playoff record. He has the fourth highest passer rating in the NFL the last two seasons, according to the NFL.com report, has 52 touchdown passes and just 19 interceptions and has been voted to the Pro Bowl twice.

As good a year as Foles had last year with the Philadelphia Eagles, it's hard to think of him doing a better job than Wilson has with the Seahawks.
