Washington Redskins Rumors: RG3 Takes Shot At Mike Shanahan Over Failed 2013 Season? [VIDEO]

Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III is entering his third season with the Redskins and his first under new head coach Jay Gruden. Griffin said the atmosphere is great in Washington, but might had taken the opportunity to take a shot at his former coach Mike Shanahan.

Griffin spoke to Fox Sports about the incoming season and how the team is optimistic about getting back into the playoffs after missing out in 2013.

“What I think is going to help us most this year is that everybody in that building is going to be for us being successful and for us winning,” Griffin said

Then Griffin hinted at people within the organization not having “ulterior motives” that transitioned into a comment about coach Jay Gruden.

“There are no ulterior motives. That will be great. Jay has been phenomenal. [General manager] Bruce Allen has done great job of getting the right guys in that locker room. I tip my hat to them. They have given us everything we need to be successful. We’re going to work our butts off for them.”

It’s no secret that Griffin and Mike Shanahan had their differences in their two seasons together, but the argument could be made that Griffin took the opportunity to take a shot at Shanahan. Whatever happened between the player and coach is their business and it ruined the Redskins season in 2013, but now that Shanahan is gone you would think that Griffin would let it go.

The Redskins are looking to rebound from 2013’s 3-13 record in which internal issues as well as Griffin’s surgically repaired knee made it impossible to compete. The Redskins cleaned house and installed a new coaching staff to lead Washington back to the playoffs and turn Griffin back into the 2012 version of himself.
