SummerSlam 2014 Rumors: Update On Plans For Card And Roman Reigns vs. Triple H [VIDEO]

The WWE presents its second biggest show of the year in August when SummerSlam emanates from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and following news breaking that four main matches are already planned for the show, there have been some updates on what can be expected on Aug. 17.

Vince McMahon Demands More Budget Cuts, More Releases Could Be Coming

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed that the WWE is working on four main attractions for the pay-per-view, including Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella.

According to the report, Daniel Bryan vs. Kane in a Buried Alive match was also being talked about for the event since they had to cancel those plans earlier this summer, but it is seen as highly unlikely since Daniel Bryan has slowly recovered from a neck injury and may have to undergo a second surgery which could sideline him long-term.

Cena won an eight-man Ladder Match for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Sunday's Money in the Bank event and though there were rumors that Wyatt -- who had been feuding with Cena -- would win the Ladder Match, it was never considered.

Cena and Wyatt have since parted ways as far as feuding goes as Wyatt has set his sights on Jericho after he returned on Monday's RAW and the two will feud into a singles match at SummerSlam.

Cena, meanwhile, is expected to retain the gold in a Fatal 4 Way against Reigns, Orton and Kane at Battleground and then face Lesnar, who is fresh off of ending The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX at SummerSlam.

Lesnar may win the gold at the August event before dropping it back to Cena at Night of Champions Sept. 21 in Nashville.

It was reported that Reigns would face Triple H at SummerSlam, but the WWE may push that back to September's Night of Champions so that the company can have a big match on the card to entice fans into renewing their WWE Network subscriptions that will be up in September.

Reigns will instead likely face Orton at the show and then bridge into a match with Triple H as the WWE grooms him to become a huge babyface moving forward. Reigns is rumored to eventually take on Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 next March in a match that will provide Reigns a huge babyface moment.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Reigns and Triple H is almost definitely a no-go for SummerSlam as the company wants to have Reigns face Triple H at either Night of Champions or October's Hell in a Cell, in order to bridge into Reign's big push in early 2015.

It'll be the biggest show of the summer when the WWE presents SummerSlam on Aug. 17, and the groundwork for the next couple of months is already being laid creatively by the WWE.
