Sidney Crosby Out Indefinitely After Jaw Surgery

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a broken jaw after suffering an injury.. The Penguins announced Sunday on their official website that Crosby had the surgery after being hit in the mouth with a puck during the Pittsburgh's game against the New York Islanders on Saturday.

However, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Penguins star did not show signs of concussion symptoms and will be ready for the playoffs. Pittsburgh currently owns the best winning streak in the NHL and sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.with a 36-28-8 record and 56 points.

Crosby, one of the NHL's most polarizing figures, has missed considerable time during the past two years due to concussions. He was sidelined for the final 41 games in 2011 and the Stanley Cup playoffs, in addition to missing most of the 2012 regular season as symptoms lingered. 

Pittsburgh owns a 15-game winning streak and are within two wins from tying the NHL record set by the 1992-93 Penguins,
