Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o improved his 40-yard dash time on Tuesday as he hopes to be picked in the first round of the NFL draft next month.

Te'o was timed at 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the pro day in Notre Dame which was slightly below the 4.82 seconds he was timed at the combine in Indianapolis.

"Obviously I wanted to improve in my 40-time and I spent a lof ot time doing that," Te'o said in an interview with ESPN. "I'm very pleased with the way I performed.

Te'o also talked about performing well at home.

"I felt good. I'm at home now," Te'o told The Chicago Tribune. "I was very pleased with how I performed. I just expected to run faster than I did at the combine. That's exactly what I did."

Te'o was among 14 Notre Dame players taking part in the pro day.

According to some analysts, that mark will help Te'o's status as a first-round pick in the NFL draft in April.

"I would expect him to be drafted somewhere in (Nos.) 20 to 32 range," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock told USA Today.
