Former Detroit Pistons star Rip Hamilton is making his way to Brazil to be a true American hero. Hamilton is going to visit the World Cup in an attempt to convince Clint Dempsey to wear a protective mask on his face to protect his broken nose.
Hamilton posted a picture to his Instagram telling Dempsey that he is on the way and he is bringing gifts.
"On my way to Brazil to watch @clint_dempsey and Team USA at World Cup . @clint_dempsey if u need to borrow my mask I’m bringing them in my carry on bag.#MaskChangedMyCareer #TeamUSA #WorldCup#BrandJordan #BrazilPack #HugeFanOfSoccer”
Hamilton made the protective mask a fashion statement when he started wearing it in 2002 with the Pistons. ESPN’s Jeremy Schapp reported Thursday that he doesn't believe Dempsey will wear a mask when the United States plays Portugal Sunday.
Dempsey spoke about his status and said he can breathe through one of his nostrils and he doesn't want to add any extra protection on his face.
The United States will face off against Portugal this Sunday at 6:00 PM EST in the second game of Group G play.
Clint Dempsey says he probably won't wear a mask against Portugal to protect broken nose. Has a nice bright shiner too.
