The Celtics continue their pursuit of Minnesota’s Kevin Love and reports are surfacing that Boston’s deal could be the best the Timberwolves are going to the for the All-Star.
Chad Ford of ESPN believes that the Celtics have put together a great deal for Love and the Timberwolves will most likely not get anything better than what Boston has to offer.
I continue to get strong signals that the Celtics are trying hard to use pick No. 6 and 17 along with future No. 1s and young players such as Jared Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk to persuade the Minnesota Timberwolves to trade them Kevin Love. One source close to the Wolves said that while Flip Saunders does not want to trade Love, he realizes the team likely will lose him this summer and the package the Celtics are offering is probably the best he's going to get. Given the strength of the draft, picks 6, 13 and 17 could land them three young starters to help them rebuild their roster quickly.
The Celtics are attempting to rebuild around Rajon Rondo and to pair him with Love could result in one of the fastest rebuilds in recent memory. The Celtics and T-Wolves have a history of making big trades together considering Boston got Kevin Garnett from Minnesota in 2007.
Boston continues to inch closer to Love by the day and considering the offer they have on the table it could be a done deal by the NBA draft. The Celtics have a ton of ammo and all the momentum as the Timbervolves will have to move Love eventually or risk him walking away for nothing. The Love saga is far from over, but at this moment it looks as if we will be seeing the All-Star in Celtic-green before long.
