The 144th U.S. Open tees off Thursday and will run throughout the weekend until a champion is crowned. Justin Rose took home the title last year and opens up this year's Open at 28-1 odds to take home a second. Other players looking to take the title away from Rose are the usual suspects when it comes to majors.
Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson top off an incredible field of golfers that could only be improved if Tiger Woods himself stepped onto the links. Brendon Todd (100 to 1) could ride his hot streak into the open and make a move for the top spot. Potential sleepers who could contend at a U.S. Open type major include Harris English (90 to 1), Chris Kirk (125 to 1) and Patrick Reed (125 to 1).
The PGA has been battling television ratings issues that they look to shake off this weekend with the loaded field they have in contention. Stay with Sports World News for all your U.S. Open coverage.
