Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant has been known to be slightly difficult to get along with on the basketball court, but sometimes it gets a little harsh. According to Smush Parker, he wasn't allowed to talk to Kobe until he had “ a few more accolades”.
Parker, who was Bryant’s teammate on the Lakers from 2005-07, spoke on ESPN’s Highly Questionable about his time with the Lakers.
He told me one day at practice — I tried to talk to him outside of basketball about football. And he looked at me in practice and was dead serious and said, 'You can’t talk to me. You need more accolades under your belt before you come talk to me.’
Now this is a classic case of he said he said and who knows who to believe. This story could be 100 percent true and it wouldn't shock me in the slightest considering Bryant had some words about Parker before the 2012 season.
"Smush Parker was the worst," Bryant said via Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times. "He shouldn't have been in the NBA, but we were too cheap to pay for a point guard. We let him walk on.”
The Lakers have been miserable at point guard ever since Derek Fisher left the team and Steve Nash hasn't been able to stay healthy for an extended period of time. Parker got his 15 minutes of fame by calling out the future Hall of Famer, but what does he get out of this? This story could be true, but who is really concerned about Parker’s time in Los Angeles.
Parker has been out of the NBA since the 2007-08, but during his time in Los Angeles he averred 32 minutes a game while scoring 11.3 points per contest.
