The New York Post reports the 49-year-old Jackson "may be reluctant to coach the Knicks with too heavy an influence from the president's office." Jackson was unceremoniously dumped as coach of the Golden State Warriors at the end of their season despite leading the franchise to it's first 50-win season in two decades amid reports his style clashed with that of management.

The Post adds Jackson now hopes to have the head coaching post filled before he embarks on an European vacation later this month. Among those now rumored to be under consideration are Oklahoma City guard Derek Fisher and former coaches Kurt Rambis and Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Widely considered to be the leading candidate, Fisher is expected to meet with Jackson this week and from there a decision or deal could be in place within days.

"I'll try to do that as soon as possible for all parties involved and make the decisions that need to be made,' Fisher said of his expected quick decision.

The homegrown Mark Jackson also played five seasons with the Knicks, winning Rookie of the Year honors in 1987-88.
