Patriot Re-Sign Aqib Talib: Report

The New England Patriots have agreed to a deal to bring back cornerback Aqib Talib for one more season, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Talib has played a major role in improving New England's pass defense since being acquired from Tampa Bay during the trade deadline last season.

The 26-year-old Talib returned an interception for a touchdown in his debut with the Patriots and quickly emerged as the Pats' top cornerback. New England showed convidence in Talib by using him to shadow opponents' top receivers during the latter part of their season.

Talib recorded 19 tackles in the regular season and 10 more during the playoffs. He was forced to exit the AFC Championship Game due to an injury suffered early in the game, which led the New England secondary to struggle as a result.

New England agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Kyle Arrington on Friday, as well as veteran safety Adrian Wilson. The three moves strengthen the Patriots secondary, an area of focus for the team this offseason.
