Two nations looking to return to form will do battle today in an international friendly between Mexico and Ecuador. The World Cup tune-up scheduled for 3 p.m. ET will be held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and be live streamed here free. Additional TV coverage can be found on ESPN News and Univision.
Despite undressing Israel in a friendly Wednesday night, Mexico head coach Miguel Herrera remains unsatisfied with his team's performance. Perhaps, it would've been better had the team not wasted nearly 40 minutes paying tribute to a 41-year-old striker (Cuauhtemoc Blanco), but that's a different story for a different day. With time, however, Herrera expects his team to be in proper form.
"The game didn't feature the all-around performance we expected, but we did have a lot of the ball," he said (via MLS's official website). "That's what I'm hoping for [getting my men to their peak condition]. A few of them just arrived last weekend and little by little they'll enter our work dynamic," he added.
"With more time and effort, you could see a better performance on the pitch."
Will one of those better performances be on display at AT&T Stadium this afternoon? Tell us @SportsWN
Tactical Preview
Player to Watch: Another starting lineup for Mexico, another starting lineup that doesn't feature the talents of Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. This time, it's Giovani dos Santos who will partner with Oribe Peralta atop the team's formation. In 31 appearances with Villarreal this season, the 25-year-old contributed 11 goals and eight assists. He'll look to do more of the same in Dallas today.
Mexico's Projected Lineup (5-3-2): Ochoa; Guardado, Rodriguez, Márquez, Moreno, Aguilar; Herrera, Montes, Peña; Dos Santos, Peralta
Ecuador's Projected Lineup (4-4-2): Bone; Ramirez, Erazo, Guagua, Ayoví; Rojas, Gruezo, Noboa, Montero; Valencia, Caicedo
