Former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has been cleared to resume his career after a series of head and neck injuries threatened to end it. Not only is Finley cleared to play, but he already has a team calling.
Pro Football Talks’ Mike Florio wrote that Finley’s agent shared the news and more.
"Finley’s agent, Blake Baratz, said on Thursday's PFT Live that Finley has received clearance from Dr. Joseph Maroon,"
"The Pittsburgh neurosurgeon performed the fusion of the C3-C4 vertebrates in Finley’s spine following a spinal cord contusion suffered during the 2013 season."
"Baratz said Finley will be making a team visit on Friday; Baratz declined to name the team, citing a request made by the organization for silence. (Hello, Patriots.),”
Finley had meetings with teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks before the draft and has not been in contact with the Packers. If the rumor of the Patriots being interested in Finley is true, look for the dynamic tight end to sign with the team before leaving the meeting.
ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky reports that he would not count out a return to Green Bay for Finley as the Packers have no proven talent at the position. Now that Finley is cleared to play, he should have many suitors as he was once one of the better playmaking tight ends in the NFL.
Finley had 223 receptions and 20 touchdowns in six season with the Packers.
