Minnesota Timberwolves Rumors: George Karl Wants T-Wolves Job? Flip Saunders Hasn't Reached Out Yet [VIDEO]

George Karl has only been out of the NBA for one season, but it seems the long time Denver Nuggets coach had the itch to get back on the bench. Karl has said that he would love to get back into coaching and the Minnesota Timberwolves are an intriguing destination.

Karl sat down to talk to Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com on Wednesday and he spoke about the process and the Timberwolves.

"I respect the process," Karl said . "I want to coach again. Minnesota fits my criteria.”

The Timberwolves are licking their wounds after Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger turned them down and received an extension from Memphis. President of basketball operations Flip Saunders has known Karl for a long time, but no formal contact has been made between the two.

Sam Mitchell, a former player for Saunders, is considered the favorite for the Minnesota job, but how could a team turn down Karl if he is interested? Karl has been coaching since the 1984-85 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but is better known for being the Nuggets coach from 2004 to 2013. Karl has a career winning percentage of .599 and was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2012-13.
