Aaron Hernandez News Update: NFL Vet Pleads Not Guilty In Double Murder [VIDEO]

Aaron Hernandez pleaded not guilty to double murder charges in a 2012 drive-by shooting outside a downtown Boston nightclub, which prosecutors allege was sparked after one of the victims accidentally spilled a drink on him.

Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado both died in a hail of bullets after a gunman prosecutors insist was Hernandez unloaded on their vehicle as they stopped at a red light just blocks from the Cure nightclub in the early morning hours of the early summer day.

According to CBS.com, a family member of one of the victims sobbed uncontrollably as the former New England Patriots star tight end entered his plea on charges ranging from first-degree murder to armed assault and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Prosecutors told the Suffolk County Court on Wednesday Hernandez had never met his alleged victims before that night and decided to lash out at them because he felt they were "trying him."

The website reports after bumping into Hernandez and and spilling at least some of his drink on him. Daniel De Abreu smiled at him, but never apologized. Angered and feeling disrespected, prosecutors add Hernandez nonetheless agreed to leave the club at the behest of his friends.

Prosecutors further allege that after going to a second club, Hernandez became paranoid about de Abreu having followed him, and plotted to take down the victims. "He is trying me," prosecutors allege Hernandez told friends prior to driving uo to the victims and saying "Yo, what's up now?"

Investigators added the surveillance video shows the 2006 Toyota Forerunner Hernandez was traveling looping around following the vicims in the minutes before the shooting and the car is later seen speeding away from the area.
