Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Carlos Ortiz In Court, Refusing to Testify Against NFL Vet? [VIDEO]

The man prosecutors once hoped would agree to testify against Aaron Hernandez on first-degree murder charges in the killing of former associate Odin Lloyd is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to be arraigned on similar charges, according to Boston.com.

Carlos Ortiz faces murder charges stemming from last June's execution style-killing of Lloyd, whose bullet-riddled body was ultimately found approximately a mile from Hernandez's North Attleborough mansion. Ortiz also faces several accessory related charges.

Aaron Hernandez tats offer clues in murder probe?

Several media outlets have reported Ortiz initially told police he, Hernandez, Lloyd and Ernest Wallace were all riding together that night and at one point the other three men got out of the car together and Lloyd never returned.

Ortiz's lawyer have previously termed the additional and upgraded charges against their client as ''totally ridiculous,'' hinting that prosecutors only moved to file them after Ortiz wouldn't agree to testify against the former NFL star he has known since they were youngsters back in Bristol, Connecticut.

Carlos Ortiz won't testify against Aaron Hernandez?

The 24-year-old one-time New England Patriots star tight end has pleaded not guilty in the Lloyd killing, even though prosecutors have pegged him as the triggerman and insinuated he may have killed Lloyd because he had information about other violent crimes the former Florida star is alleged to have been involved in.

Over the last month, Hernandez has also been indicted on double- murder charges in connection with a 2012 drive-by shooting in downtown Boston that also left another man seriously wounded.
