Miami embarks on a three-game road trip in the nation's capital after going 3-3 on its recent road trip while open up a homestand after losing three of four to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Nathan Eovaldi (3-2, 3.41 ERA) takes the ball for Miami while Washington counters with Tanner Roark (3-2, 3.42 ERA).

Roark looks to bounce back after allowing six hits and pitching around a rain delay and struggling in the fourth inning against the Cincinnati Reds.

"I was getting behind hitters. I wasn't really pitching to contact; I was nibbling a little bit," Roark told MLB.com about his struggles.

Nats infielder Ian Desmond has come around in his last 10 games, where he has hit .300 with four homers and seven RBIs.

Giancarlo Stanton leads the National League in homers (14) and RBIs (47) while he ranks second in total bases (115) and third in slugging percentage (.599) and OPS (.997). Christian Yelich is tied for the league lead with four triples.

Anthony Rendon is tied for the league lead with four three-baggers.

The Marlins and Nationals kickoff their three-game set with a matinee game today in Washington, D.C.
