Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: NFL Vet To Be Arraigned On Double-Murder Charges [VIDEO]

Aaron Hernandez is scheduled to be formally arraigned this week on murder charges stemming from a 2012 drive-by, double slaying in downtown Boston.

The jailed former NFL star has been fingered as the triggerman in the July 2012 shooting that left Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado dead and a third man seriously injured.

According to BostonHerald.com, prosecutors contend the one-time New England Patriots tight end ambushed the vehicle the victims were traveling in as they stopped at a red light. Hernandez and the men had an encountered arlier that night at an area nightclub.

The 24-year-old Hernandez has been held without bail and confined to solitary confinement at the Bristol County Jail since June 2013 on first-degree murder charges in the execution-style killing of one-time associate Odin Lloyd.

Investigators believe Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because of his knowledge about other violent crimes the former Florida star is alleged to have been involved in.

Attorneys for Hernandez have professed his innocence and he is expected to plead not guilty to all charges when he appears in Suffolk [Mass.] Superior Court on Wednesday.

Since being held in custody, Hernandez has been criminally charged with threatening to kill a jail guard and his family. He was briefly moved to a more secluded area of the jail after savagely beating a fellow inmate while the man was handcuffed.
