Two nations chasing superiority in the 2014 Toulon Tournament will do battle today in a match between France and China. The group-stage battle scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET will be held at the StadePerruc in Hyeres and can be live streamed here free. Additional TV coverage can be found on beIN Sports.
For China, today's match will serve as the national team's debut in the youth tournament. Unfortunately, host-nation France will be on the opposite end of the pitch. After successfully undressing Chile 3-0 in their first group match, France will look to continue flexing their youth muscle in Hyeres this afternoon. Players like Jean-Christophe Bahebeck will benefit from their head coach's aggressive tactical approach (h/t to France Info). "We didn't have many chances [early on]," Bahebeck said.
"The coach [Ludovic Batelli] told us to go on and not let go. It's true we played an average first half. He told us to continue to strengthen our lines and asked for much more in possession of the ball because it could hurt them [Chile]," he added.
Goalkeeper Paul Nardi savored his club's performance in the team's opening match, and will look to carry that into today's encounter with China.
"It was a good collective result. In the second half, we were able to stay behind the ball and stay tough because we were facing a creative Chilean team that could cause us problems."
Despite the problems Chile could've caused on the pitch, they were unable to stand tall after the final whistle. Will China, however, be better on the ball and deliver a shocking result to the French youth national team? Tell us @SportsWN
