Real Madrid Transfer News: Chance To Sign Yaya Toure Rejected, No Room For Manchester City Midfielder?

There's an unwritten rule in the world of sports: Players will use any leverage they can to cash a bigger check.

Real Madrid Offer Ashley Cole 2-Year, £10 Million Contract?

That was made glaringly apparent when Manchester City's Yaya Toure voiced his displeasure after the club failed to appropriately celebrate his birthday. The prospects of his departure from Etihad Stadium are real according to his Russian advisor, Dmitry Seluk (per the Telegraph). "Yaya is so upset, he is thinking of leaving City," Seluk said.

"There are a number of things that have happened that have left Yaya feeling bitterly upset. City have treated him with disrespect and have really hurt him," he added.

Liverpool Reject Real Madrid's Bid For Luis Suarez?

"What happened at his birthday meant the club don't care about him. It was proof. They can say whatever they want, 'Oh we like him, but we forgot.'"

"None of them shook his hand on his birthday. It's really sick."

With the World Cup-bound star looking to depart, one of the many clubs linked with a potential transfer is Real Madrid. Sport (via Goal), however, is reporting that the Spanish giant will reject the chance to sign the 31-year-old.

As eye-raising as that sounds—especially after Toure's 20-league-goal performance this season—Madrid have every right to turn the other cheek. Though Toure is a versatile midfielder that can feature in three different central roles, there's no room for his aging talents at the Santiago Bernabeu.

When considering his defensive contributions, Madrid already boast the invaluable Spanish international Xabi Alonso. His heir apparents, Asier Illarramendi and Casemiro, aren't old even old enough to receive a discount on car insurance. Their playing time with the club will only increase as they attempt to become regulars in the first XI.

Carlo Ancelotti's abundance of riches also includes stalwart midfielders the likes of Luka Modric, Angel Di Maria and Isco. Toure would only fall behind in the pecking order, unable to unseat the starting contributions of Modric and Di Maria. Even if the club was looking to add another option in the midfield, a younger talent like Juventus' Paul Pogba would better serve its youth movement.

Yaya Toure would be able to celebrate more than his birthday at Real Madrid, but it's in everyone's best interest he looks to party elsewhere.
