According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Stephanie McMahon came out to Bryan's music during a segment on Monday Night RAW at the O2 Arena in London and revealed that the WWE has decided to strip Bryan of his belt. McMahon reportedly said she wanted to strip Bryan of the title but wants him to forfeit it over on next week's RAW.

Bryan had surgery on Thursday to repair a minor broken neck and the best-case scenario is that he will be sidelined for 2-3 months with a return at August's SummerSlam pay-per-view his hopeful return date. That is just a best-case timetable as he could prove to be out for much longer.

Bryan sustained the neck injury through the course of his career due to his in-ring style and at first the WWE was under the impression that he may only miss 1-2 months. At that point, the WWE was mulling keeping the title on Bryan, however after his return timetable became cloudy, the company has likely decided to remove the title from him rather than have an absent champion for three months or longer.

Bryan was originally slated to face Kane in a Buried Alive match at Payback, but the WWE has to switch their plans now that Bryan is out of action.

It's been an up-and-down time for Bryan as he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on April 6 at WrestleMania and married Brie Bella shortly after, but upon returning from his honeymoon he learned of the passing of his father then lost his friend and fan Connor "Crusher" Michalek to a battle with cancer.

While Bryan may come back sooner than expected, the WWE has opted not to risk anything and next week they will likely strip him of the belt.
