Jim Ross Podcast: J.R. Discusses Daniel Bryan Neck Injury, The Shield vs. Evolution and John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt [VIDEO]

Jim Ross posted his latest blog entry on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw that included comments on WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan's neck injury, Alicia Fox flipping out and maximizing camera time, Stephanie McMahon, The Shield vs. Evolution, and John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing Match at Payback. Here are some highlights.

Jim Ross on Daniel Bryan's Neck Injury:

"Sad news to hear that Daniel Bryan has to undergo neck surgery this Thursday. As in most surgeries, no one will know the exact severity or the time the WWE World Champion will be away from the ring until the surgery is completed. All other info in this area is merely speculation at this time even though the word on the street is that the injury isn't as serious as Austin, Edge, etc. My only advice to Bryan is to not rush back and to take no chances with a neck injury no matter how 'good' one may think that they feel."

Jim Ross on The Shield vs. Evolution at Payback:

"The WWE has one, hot storyline going for them right now and that's the Shield vs Evolution. This attraction will have to carry the Payback event coming to Chicago the day after I will be at the House of Blues there for our RINGSIDE show. One reason that this issue is working is that there are clearly defined roles in play, the heroes (Shield) vs. the villains (Evolution). 16 Shades of Gray this is not."

WWE Merchandise Sales: Top Movers Revealed as John Cena Leads Active List

Ross continues to say that having six legitimate stars in one match is good to sell the fans on this feud at WWE Payback but can also demonstrate "the lack of depth currently within WWE and actually across the board in the business these days." Ross says it will be up to other performers on the card at Payback to "turn heads" and display "game changing passion" moving forward.

Jim Ross on Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena at Payback:

"There's no logical reason why Bray Wyatt should not beat John Cena at Payback."

For the rest of his comments on the Cena-Wyatt feud, JR talked about how Bray Wyatt has become a cult favorite and so the lines here are more blurred than in The Shield vs. Evolution storyline. Of course, anyone who WWE puts up against Cena these days is bound to get cheers from certain pockets of the audience, so I don't consider that to be a big deal. I do agree with Ross, however, that Wyatt should win the match here and in much more impressive fashion than the interference-laden Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules.

Total Divas: Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella's Wedding Gift; Naomi Suffers Eye Injury

Jim Ross on Alicia Fox and Stephanie McMahon on Raw:

"Really loved Alicia Fox' performance on RAW as her post match antics were eye opening and showed just how marketable the lovely young woman can be if she is cast properly and she raises her game as she did tonight. Minutes Maximized. Stephanie McMahon was very good at playing very bad with her on camera time on RAW. She is a great TV wrestling villain."

CB's Analysis: I agree that Alicia Fox and Stephanie McMahon both put on solid performances. While Stephanie's evil eyes after being pushed down by Brie Bella didn't surprise me, Fox's flip-out was very well-done and not something I expected. Kudos to her for that.
