Chivas Guadalajara Transfer News: Oribe Peralta Moving To America For $10 Million, Chivas Outbid?

Even the offseason is beginning to go awry for Chivas Guadalajara.

Chivas Guadalajara To Sign Six New Players In Summer?

Initial reports from Goal had the Santos Laguna striker and Mexican international Oribe Peralta moving to Guadalajara for a €5 million transfer fee. That took a negative turn on Monday, with ESPN's Tom Marshall reporting the 30-year-old is instead planning a transfer to the club's biggest rival, America. A press conference has already been scheduled for Tuesday.

In the end, money talked for Santos Laguna. Merca's German Rivera is reporting the agreed upon transfer is close to $10 million. Converted to Euros, the fee is equivalent to €7.3 million and €2.3 million higher than Guadalajara's initial bid.

Peralta was named to Miguel Herrera's 23-man roster for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after enjoying a season that saw him lead Santos Laguna in goals (8) and shots on target (29). His place on the roster, however, was never in question according to the head coach (h/t to Terra). "Obviously, Oribe Peralta is going [to Brazil]. He's done things very well. He's one of the players guaranteed a spot," Herrera said.

"Oribe scores classy goals," he added.

"Who wouldn't want him here?"

The same question is being asked at the club level. Should Peralta ultimately transfer to Club America rather than Chivas Guadalajara, it'll serve as another shot across the bow in what is easily considered the biggest rivalry in Mexican football—a shot that once again failed to work in the favor of the Goats.

The search for a plan-B transfer must now commence. Another 13-goal season will not be tolerated.
