As crass as Tommy Lasorda's comments about V. Stiviano were last week, they were also almost prophetic.
TMZ Sports reported Monday night that Stiviano, the object of exiled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's affection, was involved in a car accident in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Tommy Lasorda hopes V. Stiviano gets hit by a car
But while Lasorda said, "I hope she gets run over by a car," when he was asked about the Sterling situation when he was receiving an honorary doctorate degree, it was Stiviano who instigated the accident, according to TMZ Sports, when she failed to stop her red Ferrari and rolled it into the back of a black Range Rover.
"V. went insane," TMZ Sports reported it was told. She jumped out of her Ferrari and "started screaming every obscenity in the book." Included in her diatribe was the comment, "You know who you're messing with, mother -------?"
Shelly Sterling using Donald Sterling dementia as defense to keep her from sellng the Clippers?
TMZ Sports added that Stiviano told the Range Rover driver that she had to return the Ferrari, although she would not elaborate on what that meant. The car is one of several vehicles she received from Sterling.
The report went on to describe more Diva behavior from Stiviano. She refused to give her insurance information to the other driver and had an assistant take care of the mess she made.
The incident is just the latest among a soap opera of the Sterlings, with Donald having conducted an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper in which he attacked Magic Johnson for having AIDS during his apology for his racist remarks.
Sterling's estranged wife, Shelly, told Barbara Walters that she wanted to maintain control of the team, despite the fact that neither league executives nor NBA players want any member of the Sterling family as owner.
Shelly also told Walters that she thought Donald was beginning to experience the effects of dementia.
It's a sad situation in which none of three players - Donald Sterling, Shelly Sterling and V. Stiviano - seems to have a strong grip on reality.
Is anyone in the Sterlings inner circle a sympathetic character? Comment below or tell us @SportsWN.
