Tim Tebow News: Donald Trump Sees Double-Standard In NFL Vet's Treatment Compared To Michael Sam [VIDEO]

Donald Trump thinks Tim Tebow is forced to endure a double-standard compared to the media's treatment of Michael Sam, according to Mediate.com.

The outspoken real estate mogul appeared on Monday morning's episode of the Fox & Friends Morning Show, where he saluted Sam's weekend selection as the first openly gay player picked in the NFL draft, but added "I guess there must be a double standard because Tim Tebow went through hell. They went after him like crazy."

Trump also addressed the growing controversy born of Sam embracing and kissing his boyfriend as the TV cameras rolled and aired it all. Miami Dolphins veteran Don Jones has since been suspended and fined by the team for taking to social media to rail against Sam's actions.

"We've become so politically correct in this country that the country is going to hell," Trump added. "People are afraid to talk. They're afraid to express their own thoughts. I've heard many people, I'm not even speaking for myself, but I've heard many people that thought the display after he was chosen was inappropriate. And whether or not it was, I don't know. But it was certainly out there a little bit."

A devout Christian, the 26-year-old Tebow last played in the NFL in 2012 and some have speculated his trouble in landing with another team might be tied to his unrelenting religious views.

"I'm very happy that he got chosen," Trump said of Sam. "But I thought he was really going at it. I haven't seen anything like that in a while. He was really going at it. Yet when Tebow did his thing, which a lot of people thought was totally fine, he was just criticized so badly. I guess you could say there is a double standard."
