Tom Thibodeau to Golden State Warriors? Mark Jackson Fired, Teams Asking Bulls Permission To Speak With Thibs? [VIDEO]

The Golden State Warriors are planning to request permission from the Chicago Bulls to contact former Coach of the Year Tom Thibodeau.

SfGate.com reports the team's short wish list of candidates to replace the fired Mark Jackson includes Thibodeau, Steve Kerr and Stan Van Gundy.

Tom Thibodeau leaving Bulls?

"We're going to take our time in this process," owner Joe Lacob told the website. "We're going to interview a number of people. We have a very good idea of what we're interested in. We will interview multiple people and make sure we're doing the right thing."

And in the Warriors' mind, that seems to start with Thibodeau, who previously was an assistant with the Celtics in 2008 when Lacob was a minority owner of the franchise.

Despite having former MVP Derrick Rose for just 10 games this season and losing Luol Deng at the trade deadline in a deal with Cleveland, Thibodeau led the Bulls to a 48-34 record this season and a No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Tom Thibodeau a hot commodity

Thibodeau was also named Coach of the Year in 2012 when he led the Bulls to a 60-win season. But just as legendary are his struggles with management.

The 56-year-old, fourth-year coach has been at odds with management since top assistant and close confidante Ron Adams was dismissed after the 2012 season. Over his four years in Chicago, Thibodeau has posted a 205-107 record, including Derrick Rose's 2010-11, 62-20 MVP season.
